I knew as soon as I found out I was pregnant that I wanted to deliver in the comfort of my own home. However, my husband was more than hesitant at the idea of not being in a hospital for our first child’s delivery. Kim’s wealth of knowledge and her patience in addressing his concerns gave us the confidence to have a fearless home birth. Kim is such a genuine, caring person that by the time our daughter was born it wasn’t a mere acquaintance delivering her, but a friend. She struck the perfect balance of being professional in her care while having a natural friend. One of the reasons that I wanted a home birth was because I feel very uncomfortable in a hospital setting (even when I’m not the patient!). I was afraid of having interventions pushed on me by people I didn’t truly know or trust and ending up with a birth story that caused me to be afraid to give birth again. I am so thankful that my birth experience was a peaceful and empowering one. I love being able to give expecting mothers assurance that it is more than possible to enjoy your birth experience! In the few moments of fear I had during labor, Kim was that voice of peace and encouragement that I needed. Her reassurance and gentleness gave my body the space it needed to give birth in safety and serenity. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
